Pownce

Today R***y signed up for Pownce. I got an invite a long time ago and forgot about it so I figured I would check it out today while at work. Here are some thoughts….

The problem I have with these types of services is it seems that they are only useful if you know truck loads of people on them and they all actively use it (much like twitter). Right now I have 5 friends and nobody is posting anything of note and there is nothing else you can do on this site. What is the point of this service that couldn’t be done with email other then it’s a public record? The website is kinda slow but does look nice.

Pownce seems only good for popular people with tons of acquaintances. I’m also not the biggest fan of social networking regardless. I’m just a regular boring person and I don’t know a lot of people. For the most part I know what my friends are doing but really in the long run I don’t see myself using this website for very long.

The best part of the “Pownce” experience so far has to be the picture jjafuller chose for his photo.

Health Hill/Spectrum Health article NYT

A co-worker of mine mentioned that Spectrum Health and “Health Hill” were profiled in the New York Times Real Estate section. The article seems to mention all the big dogs (DeVos, Van Andel, Meijer) and big companies (Herman Miller, Steelcase, Meijer, Amway, GVSU) and shows Grand Rapids in a positive light. The article addresses the growth of Spectrum Health with the Heart Center and future locations. A good read I recommend. The above picture was taken by Adam Bird for The New York Times.

OMG BEST NEWS EVER

There isn’t much else that can be said then what the image above hasn’t already told you. The DVD creators have finally given us a double dip that is worth a damn. A DIRECTORS CUT OF COMMANDO!!! MORE BENNETT!!! MORE VIOLENCE!!!

Words truely cannot comprehend how amazing this movie is. Everybody who has not seen Commando better be camping outside Best Buy September 18th. I will be picking this up for the Directors Commentary alone. Mark L. Lester better once and for all inform the public why Bennett is wearing chain mail in 1985. Best DVD feature ever…. “Let Off Some Steam Featurette”….life as we have known it will never be the same….
