“Finish the Fight” “The End Begins” = $$

After playing games like Halo 2 and God of War 2 I’ve come to the conclusion these games were solely created to piss me off.

Shutdown Day March 24th, 2007

” Shutdown your computer on this day and find out! Can you survive for 24 hours without your computer?”

If this was any other day of the week it would be impossible. Sadly every day for work I’m parked in front of a computer and there is nothing I can do about it. I’m so addicted to the computer on my free time I could be reading books or cleaning my room but NOPE I’m updating my homepage.

Tomorrow for 24 hours I really don’t see this being a problem. I’m going to turn off my iMac, shut the lid on my laptop, and shutdown my server and say good rididence! It should be a busy day and I have the gato, tepper, my friends, Sword of Truth and God of War 2 to keep me company. For some I could see this being tough but it could be good for the soul to brb the computer. Is anybody else willing to try this?

UPDATE: I did not fail!  This experiment lasted longer then expected I didn’t use a computer for over 36 hours.  For the first time in god knows when I ended up going to the YMCA and getting some “cardio” prior the playing paintball.  Got out of the house and enjoyed the fantastic Grand Rapids weather.  I also got a racquetball book out from the library now I just need to find somebody to go with me. Very close to defeating God of War 2 expect a post on that soon.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

For the most part I’ve stopped reading video game reviews. Long time ago I’ve realized most people who review games don’t finish them to completion. That has bothered me for a long time and now when reviews come out if I do read them I look mostly just for answers to questions rather then opinions. To a degree I do value if a game scores well as a consensus but really the opinions of friends and above anything myself are the most important. I’m 26 years old more or less I have a pretty good idea of what I’m going to like. This article makes some good claims about video game websites that I enjoyed reading. From now on if I have any type of review for a game it will not be until completion…

Back on topic. This week I finished finished The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Game Cube. Back when this game was originally announced I was beyond excited for the release. When the game was pushed back practically a year I was depressed. When the rumors of the Game Cube version being canceled hit the web I was furious and felt betrayed. When the game was released for $37.99 the first week released luck was officially on my side.

When I write or when make critiques I don’t like to start on a negative but for Zelda I feel this will be the biggest point I’m going to make. In all the trailers and promotion for the game it seemed this was going to be the most epic Zelda adventure ever. After playing over 50 hours of the game there are maybe three “epic” moments. They aren’t going to be listed here and those epic “wow” moments are in this game but not as much as one would expect. There are moments of nostalgia that I love (musical flashbacks, getting the Master Sword, any appearance of the Triforce) but after playing God of War 2 this weekend the first level is more epic then Zelda is throughout the entire adventure.

Deep down I’ve never been the largest Zelda fan.  I’ve played every major release minus The Windwaker and of now Twilight Princess is the quintessential experience.  While plundering though the dungeons I kept saying to myself this game totally nullified Ocarina of Time game play. With Twilight Princess there is no reason to ever revisit that game.  Twilight Princess really plays like OoT V2.0.  Some feel that Zelda 3 is the best game in the series there is no doubt personally Twilight Princess just obliterates that game.

Anybody who owns a Wii or a GCN should play this game.  Twilight Princess really doesn’t require any previous Zelda experience. Many of the “Zelda” staples are included in this game and really I wouldn’t say this is a “kiddy” game.  The game starts slow but for beginners they will find it useful. The game earns it’s “T” rating and the story for the most part is quite somber.

When I finally decided to pick up a Wii I may feel the need to revisit the game.  I’m hoping FULLJEFF will create a post on his experiences on the Wii version and from what I’ve been told they should be more positive then his feelings on the GCN version. Questions ask them….

It had to be done…

I’m shocked nobody has done this yet….

Irony

Maybe I’m a fan of irony but the evolution of this story always makes me laugh. The actor Lane Garrison who played “Tweener” on Prison Break is apparently going to real prison. From the story at zap2it.com….

“On Thursday (March 8), the 26-year-old actor was charged with felony vehicular manslaughter in connection to a fatal car crash in Beverly Hills last December that killed one of his three teenage passengers, reports TMZ.com. He was also charged with driving under the influence causing injury to multiple victims, driving with a .08 percent blood alcohol level causing injury and furnishing alcohol to a minor.”

The dude was drunk and ef’ed up.  We all know about that.  If convicted, he faces a maximum of 6 years in prison. Hopefully he can avoid getting soap raped in jail and being murdered in cold blood after his excape from prison like his character did.
