Same Issue with the error 69889 and many other more… I do have so many problems with my new Mac Pro… I also have PC… every body said Mac much better… now that I have both … I go with PC with my eyes closes… Mac maybe in the past were a little better… right now the are just destroying their reputation… Apple really sucks…

With the money I spent for the Mac Pro I will have a great PC…with much less frustrations and a much better machines… Apples is just good reputation with in reality bad machines…

OK Soree ! I had a new optical drive £120 as so many of the DVD’s won’t open and were giving ‘scratched’ messages and it worked for a while but NO more back to 69902

Martin – I meant create another ‘account’ discrete from the primary Mac account user.You can create different accounts/environments for different users who will have separate sections of the same computer. Drop down from your name in the top RH corner.. HOWEVER it re jigs it BUT after a couple of days the problem has returned Sorry – Mike

EASY – Change your mac ‘environment’ Top right hand corner – create new log in window/name of new envrmt/password starts DVD’s from scratch ( wrong word!) does not carry over bookmarks but neither does it carry over the 69889/69902 problem – Mike

I just rented a movie from blockbuster and i got the exact same message. After returning the disk and getting a new one, the same message appeared/ boo

It is while watching college video production (on DVD, of course) that I experienced the error -69989. First I thought that it was because the disc is scratched. Then I thought it was because my battery is acting up (it has been quitting on me at a charge of 40% and more without warning lately). Reading all you your feedback, it looks like this is definitely an Apple problem (any Apple engineer reading this?) and not a player problem. Although I find this problem annoying, it is so infrequently that I have problems with my Mac (I am computer illiterate) that I would not exchange it for a thousand PCs.

MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.3 had error 69889 on Hawaii Video Postcard, and googled. Lucky to find this page. Used Genius 2 to repair permissions. Front Row played DVD. Just pressed return. At first in Japanese. Luckily in English subsequently. Still stopped at 1:16 of 1:23 minutes of disc Oahu.

Whoah! We had the same problem with the Ken Burns DVDs and were kind of freaked out that everybody else did too. Front Row seems to work for us too.

Whoah! I am trying to watch the Ken Burns National Parks DVDs too! 1 -3 worked just fine. I’m having trouble with disc 4. (Haven’t tried 5 & 6, but I’m sure it’s problematic as stated here.) This is on my MacBook Pro. DVD Menu from the Front Row application worked as Jerod said.

Funny thing is that if I take this disk and put it in my Mac Pro, it runs just fine through the DVD application. Both running 10.6.2.
