But, you could pry the diamond out of the nintendo, sell them to a pawn shop and buy more games with the money. There fore, it would be like buying a PS3 or 360 with 3-5 games included.

WJ, I disagree about adding the HD-DVD addon to the mix. HD-DVD/Bluray are both none essential components. If Nintendo embedded some diamonds into their system, they could charge an extra $400, but it would not make the game any better.

Would you then say that the other systems were inferior because they did not have embedded diamonds?

http://www.nextgenfight.com/

If they added the XB360 HD-DVD addon this site would be a good indicator of pricing. They also need to add the Wii but still a good way to price between XB and PS

thanks for the comments bun and gato :-D

One thing to note about the ps3's 512 meg of ram...only half goes to visuals, so it's not fully-devoted to graphics.

What disappoints me is the large number of games pumped out using the same rendering engines. It's a way to save money (correction: to recoup invested money, if any), but there's not near enough thought put into it to make it worth the purchase.

Randomness over.

600 dollars for a Blu Ray player that plays videogames at this point is better then $1000 for one that doesn't ;-)

you are right though much like the ps2's ability to play dvd's I'm sure the ps3 is not the best blu ray player. It's an early adopters tool I'm sure in a year the players are going to drop in half in price much like how you can get a DVD player for 30 bucks now.

The hardware in both is pretty similar you are right. I believe both have 512 of ram. PS3 gives you 60GB of space and that should be more then enough. The 8gb in the XB was enough. When MGS4 comes out I doubt anything is really going to look much better for any system.

To have a similar xb360 to play HDDVD's you will spend over $600 dollars is far from a "deal". If you purchase this so called "elite" system and get the HD-DVD addon you are spending more then a PS3. Now if the Elite system came with a HDDVD drive...now that wouldn't be so bad.

PS3 is free to play online as well. All three majors are just nickel and dime'ing everybody it's crazy all the hidden costs.

I wouldn't say the hardware in the PS3 is THAT much better than the 360, especially when it comes to graphical processing. The engine inside the PS3 -- the famed "Cell" processor -- is amazing for strict processing and multi-tasking. Simple fact is though, developers have no idea how to tap into it right now. The 360's graphics potential almost surpasses the PS3's...if it just had the raw horsepower to deal with other calculations. If you look at games produced on both platforms, the 360 has looked better 80-90% of the time, simply because of how difficult it is to program for the PS3.

The blu ray player on the ps3 is "par" at best. Its drive speed is incredibly slow, which will drastically increase load times. Don't get me wrong, it's an incredible piece of hardware, but there's just as much hype in that black rounded system as there is impressive components.
